  • Run Time Error!

    Hey,

Tried to render a scene today and SketchUp Crashed, I got the following error message... "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" Run Time error...

Has anyone come across this before and is there a way to stop it crashing as this has happened a couple of times.......Just a note my scene has a large number of models in it so I think this might have something to do with the problem.......

    Re: Run Time Error!

This error is extremely nondescript and doesn't really say anything specifically about what's going on. More often than not though, this winds up being memory related, so if you have a large number of objects in your scene that would certainly look to be at the heart of the issue.

      Re: Run Time Error!

Unfortunately the only thing you can do here is try to reduce the polycount by eliminating objects that dont show up in the scene or finding new lower poly objects to replace the high poly objects. Sketchup apparently is stuck at 2gb and I guess there is no way to increase that limit. If you go by my segguestion and it still doesn't work then there may be something in the actual model causing trouble. Can you take a screenshot of your scene?

        Re: Run Time Error!

Thanks guys for the help.........I managed to render the scene using the fast preview settings, but as soon as I increase the settings I get the error message..........

I think it could be the polycount, I have a lot of 3d max models in the scene...........John I have started to take out the models that are not in view so hopefully that will work, Can I post an image directly or do I have to use a fileshare??

        Thanks again........

          John,

Here is a Screen Shot of the Scene I am trying to render, I removed a lot of the models and set up various scenes as you suggested and it has worked for some scenes and not for others, any ideas

Well I have to say that the images so far look very nice. About that first one. Is it possible that all of those light fixtures have vray lights in them? If so how many? That could be your problem if so you may be able to get rid of some of those lights and replace it with an emissive material. Most of the time that always works for me.

              Hey John,

Yeah I have tried that already, I took out all the lights and am just using HDRI Lighting........It's still not rendering......might just have to stick with
a sketchy image for that view......thanks for the other advice managed to render all the others scenes................

                Re: Run Time Error!

Have you monitored SU's memory usage while you render?

Have you tried render to file instead of the VFB?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Have you decreased the size of any textures in the scene?
Have you tried closing down SU, then reopening and rendering?
                  Have you restarted your computer?
How many other applications do you have running?

Most likely this will work (at least I would hope)

Hey thomthom thanks for the advise how do I check SU's memory and render to file ???

Damien thanks I have a couple of large texture files that could be reduced, I will try that.........

To monitor memory usage press Ctrl+Shift+Esc - That should bring up the Task Manager. Under the Processes tab you'll find Sketchup.exe

To render large resolution images: http://software.asgvis.com/index.php...d=16&Itemid=55

thanks thomthom.....................when your checking the memory if you right click on sketchup you can set the priority, does changing the priority have any effect on preformance...

Better leave that alone. It certainly doesn't affect memory.
