  • Displacement on sloped surface

Hi guys, I have created a slate tile material that uses displacement. It seems to behave fine when applied to a flat 2D surface, but as soon as make a sloped surface it doesnt displace when I render the material. So step by step this is what I do..
-Draw a basic rectangle in a new sketchup file
-apply slate texture and assign the vray material to it.
-render it, it looks great and displacement works 100%.
-If i then slope that face, i.e. rotate it 30 degrees for example and render it again it just renders out flat, displacement no longer works it only renders the basic diffuse map.

Any ideas, have I overlooked something simple here?

Not sure I'm the best guy to answer but have you tried grouping the face? Double click the face so that it selects the face and the surrounding edges. Then group it together. Sometimes this works for me. No harm in trying, but again, don't take my word for it.

I would also suggest grouping it

Thanks guys that worked. My understanding was as long as the face wasnt touching any other with a different material that it would still displace. Maybe one of the moderators could enlighten us.

That's how I thought it did. Can you share a test model where it occurs?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.
