  • Shadows in wrong places

    Hi Ya all

Ive got shadows in SU pointing one way. Then I render it in V-Ray and the shadows ponit in another direction!!!!!!!
Im using TEOFAS.visopt ( Now I know he uses an older version of V-Ray and that there were issues with the last version)
Should I just use a different visopt?

    Im running
    SU7pro
    V-Ray 01.05.30

Ok heres the noob question :P
How do I host an image. I have a photobucket account. I have pictures uploaded to that account.
I see the insert image button. I tried pressing that and pasting the link to my photobucket account but that didn't work.
Any hints. I'm a lot embarrassed asking this. So be gentle in your reply

    Re: Shadows in wrong places

Hmm.. I've never seen unsynced shadows since the original. But I'm not surehow visopt from the old version affects the new.

Nor do I know what the setup of the teofas.visopt is. But what's the GI map set to? a Sky map? If so - have you tried the old trick by updating it like in the old version?

You find instructions to post images in the FAQ section of the forum. (second section to the top)
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Yes, updating it's working, I know for sure because I use occasionally Teo's visopt.

Is teos visopt for exterior renders? I like to try new ones to see quality differences.

"Updating it." Could someone please explain what does that mean and how do you do it.

Go into your options panel, click on environment tab, click on the M next to GI Skylight and then press the 'Default' button next to 'Sunlight Source'. Apply then come out and when you render the shadows are updated.

                Hi all
Just to come back to you all, on the problems I was having with shadows being different in SU, compared to the finished render in V-Ray.

I tried ThomThom's suggestion on going to environment and updating the sky map (hope I’m using the right terminology) Unfortunatly this did not work for me while I was using either teofas.visopt or baiucu_interior.visopt

My work around was to load default_sketchup.visopt and then to change the settings to match either teofas or baiucu's settings.

My only understanding for why those two visopt's didn’t work for me (in regards to shadows) was they were both made in older versions of V-Ray than what I’m using.

                Hope this is helpful

Concerning similar issue, my friend's render doesn't show the shadows, only the tree ones.
                  What can be occuring?
