  • Opacity Maps & Shadows

    Hey Guys,

I am rendering a company logo and I am using an opacity map, which works fine, but the shadows are not rendering correctly, is there a way to fix this, here are the images to explain a bit better, thanks.

Could you lower your noise threshold from 0.01 to 0.001 or somewhere in between?

    Regards,

      Hey Bill,

Thanks for the reply but its not the noise I am talking about but the shadow itself, sorry its hard to explain so I have added some images that might explain a bit better...........

-The first image is rendered using an image & opacity map, the shadow is not correct.
-The second image is rendered using 3d txt, this is how the shadow should look.

Hope this explains it a bit better.............how can I get the correct shadows using opacity maps?? thanks again. ???

        Re: Opacity Maps & Shadows

The issue is that the material needs to be explicitly applied to both the front and BACK faces within SU. The front face with the opacity mapping is not causing the issue, its the back face that doesn't have the same material as the front.
