  • jpeg's don't render in VRAY

    Hello everybody,

I'm new with Vray (which I love by the way).
I was wondering if someone can help me.
Jpegs I imported in Sketchup (they are posters on a wall scene), don't appear in my in Vray renders... Please help!!!
    Thank you and regards.

Re: jpeg's don't render in VRAY

There was some sort of bug we were tracking down at some point that had to do with importing images... I thought we had fixed it. Make sure you're up to the latest version of our product, and if you are, I guess we didn't fix that bug after all.

As a work around, instead of importing the image, just use the image as a texture in a material, then you'll be all set. ;D

Thank you for your quick reply DKENDIG.
I do have the latest version by the way and I already have a stucco texture on the wall and like I mentioned it's a poster on tha t same wall.
I guess you're saying to create a component with a material and then set it on top. Any suggestions on what is best to import (Jpeg, Png, Bmp...) ?
Again many thanks for your help.
      Regards,
      Alexandre

        hi.
        lution foor your problem..
look theres a few steps before to import a jpeg picture. like poster on the wall..

        1. you have too make a square with the square tool trying to make the same size of your new poster..(you have to make this square on the wall., i usually select the new square and make a new group or component called poster).
        2. the you select the new square and go to file-import-jpg file type, and you select the image that u want. "and u select on the right side" "import as a texture"
then you apply the image like a new texture on your poster square.
        3. you can fix your texture to make a perfect poster without any unwanted picture and then u move your group (poster square with the texture applied) like a 0,001 cm(1 mm) from the wall.. and then you give some high with the pull tool, like 0,04 cm.

after all this process you push render. and i hope it works for you..
for me works perfect all te time !..

        bye

hmm, so maybe we did fix that bug after all...

What I was saying, is if all you are trying to do, is get an image to show up on an object somewhere, you don't have to import the texture. Instead you can make a new SketchUp material, and when you go to the edit tab of that material, you should see a lil spot where you can specify an image. First you'll have to check the lil checkbox that says "use texture image", and then you just click the little box looking icon next to the text field... hold on this post obviously needs an image to explain this. I'm even getting confused by what I'm saying...

Okay, so there's a spot right there where you can specify a texture to use. You just click the little icon to the left of it and pick your image. Once you're done, you'll have a material that will show up with that image you wanted to use, and you can just apply that to a plane somewhere and call it a day.

What Ruango said sounds good too though, so I guess try it that way first, and if all else fails, try it the way I mentioned above.

          Best regards,

That is an actual bugs. In order to fix the problem, after import the image, explode it and regroup it back.
