  • How to re-assign materials at once?

    Hello everyone,

I noticed that when I opened my file from another computer, all the textures are not in the Vray material editor (the preview image is a grey ball), although these textures are in the Sketchup material editor and applied to the model. I had to look for the location of each materials and load them again one by one into the Vray material editor. It is very time consuming.

Is there a way to have the materials automatically assigned/reloaded when I open the Sketchup file with a different computer? ???

    You help is much appreciated!

Ok, I read that post (
http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=5902.0), but I am still not sure what to do.

Micha wrote: "The trick is: enable DR + enable asset collection + send to shared folder."

Damien wrote: "V-Ray will not automatically repath the assets. The system that is currently used is that V-Ray has a number of search paths that are used to find an asset when it is not in its original location. Generally, all that is needed is repathing one asset, which will add a search path, and the rest of them will be found."

How do you enable DR + enable asset collection + send to shared folder?

Anyway, I tried Damien's method by repathing one asset (you mean locate one texture, right?). It did not work. I still had to reload each texture.

        Any suggestions?

        Thanks a bunch!

oke in vray options follow the next steps:
go to system rollout > check distrubuted rendering > check enable asset collection > check send to shared folder > choose destination folder (this is where all your materials will be stored).

Oke now you click on the render button and wait untill your scene is processed.
Now when the vray framebuffer appears you can cancell the render.

Get the skp file + the shared folder (where all the materials are) on the other computer and reassign one of the materials and according to what Damien says is all the materials will be reassigned automaticly (I never checked this).

          good luck

I have same issue, but I have never solved. Does it work for VFSU?

That way didn't work for me. Everytime I needed to reassign every meterial again.

ken28875, have you tried that way? did it work?

as far as I know you have to reassign every material, but I'm not 100% sure
