Black Image

I have an old scene set up from an old sketchup model I have. I've just applied some Vray materials to it however when I hit render the final image is just completely black. I'm not sure why this is happening as I've not come across this before.

Has anybody else experienced a similar problem? the problem may be a simple one to solve but I am a complete rookie so at the moment even the simple things seem difficult lol.

please dont reply to this thread I have worked out what i was doing wrong. I was not letting any light whatsoever get into the scene wich explained the black render lol :
