  • Double your render cores (test run)

    Hi guys
My friend has accidently find this out for sketchup
Take your machine (we have a quad core) and open Dr spawner
then look up your machines ip address.
Put on distributed rendering and add only your machine.
We have picked up that the address works for only once...so you cant add 3 or more times the same ip address.

    Then fire up a render.
You ll notice instead of having 4 cores rendering for you...you have suddenly 8 cores. tadaa...not sure how much faster it is..maybe it help.

    Re: Double your render cores

I dont see how this could help really. The CPU is already maxed out at 100%. It sounds like the "Idea" of hyperthreading but without actually having hyperthreading. Have you run any time test to check your theory?

Re: Double your render cores (test run)

Just tested it on a simple scene. Without DR, it took about 37 secs. With it on, it took longer... around 40 secs. Presumably due to Vray spending some time trying to locate the supposed render nodes.

But it did double the number of render boxes (8 to 16) but definitely did not speed anything up.
