    Vray hair 1.0 for sketchup????

When will be available for Sketchup? I need to make a decent Grass and I can't because this option (FUR)is missing in the development.

    Thanks.

PS. Dalomar can you address this issue with fresh news. I saw the amazin g jub with your script when you are boring so why do not share for all the great upcoming news?

Why do you keep asking for the same thing in different forums when others including myself have given you perfectly clear explanations why V-Ray fur is very unlikely to be implemented any time soon? Nevermind your peculiarly rude way of addressing people and ASGvis' staff, the fact that you are spamming forums with the same topic without even bothering to reply in your own threads when others contribute is really frustrating.

If you're struggling to get satisfactory results from displacement grass you won't find V-Ray Fur to be the "magic bullet" anyway. Truly photorealistic grass is still only really possible in post-processing anyway, although ZBrush is beginning to change that.

      Hello Kelper,

You now have an admin's attention.

I am sorry to say that V-Ray fur will not be in the next release. We are focused on this release and there is no plan as to what part fur will play in releases after that.

Please do not spam my forums.

I should also mention that Damien has moved on to other things and will most likely not be an active presence moving forward.

I agree with you but If you see this post from the general forum you should see that they have mroe atention to other things instead this forum:

          "Hi everyone,
Because of the overwhelming feedback we've received on our social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Blogger), we're evaluating the need for an ASGvis forum.

Before we make any decisions, we'd like to know what you think. Send us your feedback and questions!

          Thanks,

They want to expand this soft on the comunity (witch is great) and the best part will be have close atention to the users in one place this forum not many places, that's is a big mistake. And we have to wait for a simple response or they didn't care like Dmien...Is my opinion. When I ask questions about development they told me that I make spam, WOW!!!!..Please back again DAMIEN!!!!

Re: Vray hair 1.0 for sketchup????

            Hi Kelper,

My name is Devin. I'm one of the developers here at ASGvis. I'm sorry if you feel that you're being neglected, or that you're not being listened to. Keith let me know about your troubles, and I thought it would be most appropriate if one of the developers responded to you directly.

You are asking for a feature to be added to our product. It's a great feature request, we agree that you are requesting a feature that would benefit many of our users, and would be a valuable addition to our product. We have a specific place for feature requests though, and it's labeled "V-Ray for Sketchup::Wishlist". I see that you have already posted your request on that forum. The reason you were told to not spam the forum, is that you posted this same request in several places. Perhaps we should have let you know that we had seen your post in the wishlist forum, and that we were aware of the feature request. We apologize if we failed to communicate this to you, we will try to communicate more in the future. Damien was our main source of communication with our forums in the past, and when he moved on, it took some time to catch up to speed and find someone else to fill his shoes.

It appears that you perhaps you have some misconceptions about how our product works, or how fur works, or how V-Ray plugins function. That's quite understandable, from a user standpoint, I'm sure a lot of the functionallity that we have in our product may seem like a simple task. Unfortunately adding V-Ray plugin such as Fur to our product isn't as easy as it may seem. There isn't anything that any users can do to add it to our product, it's not just a certain setting, it's a complex V-Ray plugin that we have to integrate in to our product. One of the major hurdles is that SketchUp lacks certain functionallity that is needed to add this to our product. Another major hurdle is the way that our product was written. Adding a major feature such as Fur, in our current product, is a huge task.

The next version of our product, which is currently under development, and is being tested by a select group of people, is focused on rewriting our product entirely. We're doing this so that we can begin to add all of the additional plugins that our users have been requesting over the past couple years. Proxy objects, fur, IES lights, sphere lights, dome lights, grass, etc... They're all great features that we really want to add as soon as possible. But unfortunately before we can do that, we need to change the way our product works on the back end. This next release will allow us to add these kinds of plugins in a much shorter time frame.

You can follow along with any updates that we have on our developer blog: http://asgvisdev.blogspot.com/

Our goal right now, is to get our new version to work just like our current product does. There may be a few improvements and features along the way, but there shouldn't be any major improvements, other than a faster render time. The version after this next huge overhaul, should start to include new V-Ray plugins and features, but we have not yet committed to which ones will be focused on first. Grass and Fur are on the list of features to consider, but they haven't been chosen yet.

We understand the frustration that you must be having, it appears that you've been trying to make grass since November 17th, 2008. We hope that you will be able to accomplish your goal once we add the V-Ray fur plugin to our product, or a grass solution of some sort. Unfortunately, we are not planning on adding this functionallity in our next release. We hope to add it as soon as possible though. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

              Hi Devin:

Thank tou so much for the feedback, was clear as water. What you know about "Autograss for V-Ray"..I learn a little a bit and I know only works in MAX witch I just purchase from my company. Do you have any advise?. I try to keep using only sketchup for design and render but I came with so many rocks in my path that I do not know what I should be doing next.

              Thanks again.

Re: Vray hair 1.0 for sketchup????

We have contacted the Autograss people about their plugin, but we have not really begun any talks about integrating it in to our product yet. There some other plugins that also allow you to quickly and easily achieve some fantastic effects and results, and we have contacted some of those companies as well, but again, we are not planning on adding any major features at this time. We are just trying to get our existing software in a more efficient and stable state, and to make it available on other platforms other than just PC. Once we've managed to do that, we will certainly be looking in to expanding our software's capabilities.

If you are interested in a 3rd party plugin such as Autograss, please let us know, and if you so desire, contact that company as well to let them know that you are interested in having that plugin available in our software. That way both ASGvis and the company that makes that other plugin will both be aware of the level of demand for a certain plugin to be integrated in to or supported by our software. Just don't post the same request in our forums every couple of days, that will get you yelled at .

On a side note, I would like to mention, that V-Ray for Max is developed by The Chaos Group, not ASGvis. They support different plugins than we do. Our hope is to one day have as much functionallity as their version of V-Ray for Max, or perhaps even surpass it , but before we can do that, we need to get everything prepared for the huge changes that are yet to come. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
                Best regards,
