display heavy geometry as box

Is there any way to display geometry heavy models such as a row of trees/plants as a box or something simpler in the open gl window while You are still working with the scene?

Would make these scenes easier to handle...until render that is =)

The brand new release of SU 7.1.4871 forces SU's render engine to degrade rendering much faster, which in effect causes complex geometry like trees, etc to display as boxes while orbiting.

Otherwise the best workaround is simply to place trees and plants on their own layer and only switch it's visibility on when it's time to render.
