  • sketchup freeze

sometimes I experience that sketchup freezes up when I use it with vray and starts acting superslow for the slightest litle change I want to make.
This has nothing to do with the size of the scene and the objects in it or that my computers memory should be maxed out.
I cannot figure out why this happens.
Anyone else had the same problem?

Im using the latest sketchup and the latest vray 30 days demo.

    Thankfull for answers.

    Re: sketchup freeze

We are having the same problem at work with commerical licenses.

Paning around the scene takes a couple of secs to take effect in the viewport, as does material changes.
Before rendering, when getting the "vray is preparing your scene for render" etc. message, it can take up to 2 minutes before it starts to acctualy calculate and show stuff in the frame buffer.

The wierdest thing about it is that it seems to come and go.

Could this be related to the open gl / graphic cards that handles the output to viewport?

Nobody else had this "slowness" problem?

      Re: sketchup freeze

What do you mean by "sketchup freezes up when I use it with vray"? VfSU runs in the background by default when you start any SU session so when you say "when I use it with vray" are you referring to specific VfSU actions?

I've noticed that the latest SU7.1 release hangs for a few seconds sometimes, but I haven't been able to work out what causes it, although it must be something to do with the way SU7.1 deliberately degrades its rendering quality to handle more polys.

        Re: sketchup freeze

Ok, I tried the scene on a pc with winxp and it rendered fine and there where none of this lagging/"freeze" going on with the orbiting or any other action/modification prior to render.

The problem must be my macPro (Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz, 4gig memory) on which the problems occur.
I run winxp on it with bootcamp.

Anybody had problems with bootcamp and the connection between mac/pc while working with vfSU?
