  • Math behind vray

    Hello!

I am a second year student of architecture and i have a project asigment to do about the mathematical processes behind different render engines in vray. I was wondering if anyone of you knows anything about it or knows in which book to look for. It would really help me a lot. I've done some research and everything is so basic and it's hard to find something that would show me how vray does the all the different light calculations. I thank you in advance and hope to hear from you soon.

    Greetings from Slovenia

Trade secrets and all but this may be helpful:

The term to look for is ray tracing. There is a lot of information out there on how this is done and not every engine does it the same way.

Hehe funny link, but still relevant.

Seriously though good luck with the report. I am better at specific questions.

Sorry I can't be of any help, but I couldn't read this topic without asking: you're a second year architecture student- why the heck are you expected to do an assignment on the mathematical processes of render engines?!!! What's that got to do with architecture? :-\

It's for the Math subject at our faculty. You can either learn math and do the exam in a traditional way or you can do a project about a topic you like. Since i'm interested in visualisation and i dont have the will to sit behind the books and learn some formulas that i will forget within the next month, i decied to do the project and actually try to understand the whole rendering process.

and thank you alrami the google one is quite important one hehe.
