  • Who tried WINDOWS 7 64 bit ?

    Hi,

Just want to know if someone tried the 64bit version ?
Is the 1,6gb memory per application fixed ?

Remember that vray and sketchup (32 bit) take a lot more RAM under 64bit OS and reach the 1,6gb limit really quick.

    thanks

Re: Who tried WINDOWS 7 64 bit ?

    I'm using Windows 7 64bit RC - I've not experienced any problems.
Don't know about the 1,6gb limit you talk of.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

      Hi,

What is the maximum of memory used by sketchup when you start a render ?
Did you go further than 1,7gb ?

Re: Who tried WINDOWS 7 64 bit ?

I've rarely had any problems with V-Ray and memory usage. The few times I've had really large renders I've rendered to vrimage and that has worked fine.

I have been using Windows 7 64 and I haven't had the first problem with it. I also don't know of the memory limit.

            Thanks

Could you just post your maximum RAM amount used by sketchup at the nearly end of the vray rendering ?

Re: Who tried WINDOWS 7 64 bit ?

If windows 7 64 bit is same as Vista 64 bit then yes the 1.7gig limit will exist but only because sketchup is a 32 BIT APP. There is a small app that I tried and it allowed me to get to 2.2gig before failing so I use that for large renders. Search the forums for it as I dont have the link off hand.

Yea, as edonk says, 32bit apps has their limits regardless if the hosting OS is 64bit.
