  • Displacement on a cushion?

    Hello all,

i have mastered displacement on a single plane, for a rug etc.

but when i try and use it on a net/mesh ie contoured ground, or a cushion, nothing happens?

i have read that displacement only works on a single planes, so do i have to go round and individually group each face? if so are there any shortcuts? the cushion for instance has loads of faces!

    thanks guys,

    kind regards

Definitely not true, don't know where you read that- the most important thing to remember is that faces with a displacement material applied MUST be grouped separately from faces with other materials applied. The second, less important rule is that displacement doesn't like single large planes, so sometimes you have to divide large faces into several smaller ones.

    Hope this helps,

Well i had problem with displacement when adding the texture t o all of the faces at once, like a carpet ive done. So first i added the texture to both sides of the plan than after i extruded ... everything ran good !
