  • Problems with the installation of New Vray - missing toolbars

    Greetings,
I have some Vray for sketchup licenses here at the company, but i've downloaded the trial version of the new Vray released this week, and i was hoping to test it before upgradind our old licenses. So i've unistalled the old version and ran the new one.
The problem is after the installation ends there's no sign of vray toolbars inside sketchup 7 desktop, like if it has never been installed at all.
There's no Plugins menu either. Only inside Window- Preferences - Extensions there's a mention about vray.
When i tried to install vray on sketchup 6, this bug dialog appears:

No such file to load -- R2P.rbError Loading File vfs.rb
No such file to load -- R2P.rb

Maybe there's a problem with the vfs.rb file blocking the plugin to work properly, i don't know.
I would appreciate if you could help me out of this situation.
    Thanks

There is another ticket about this issue.

What OS do you use on that machine?

Does the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ASGVIS\Python26" exist on your machine?

Re: Problems with the installation of New Vray - missing toolbars

Well that's good, at least the directory exists that contains the backbone of our plugin. Let's see if we can find R2P.rb then. Try to find the following directory:
            C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ASGVIS\VfS\Ruby

You should see R2P.rb in there. If not, then that's the problem.

Yes, the R2P.rb file is in there indeed. Whts next?

Just to remind u, the error dialog acusing the missing R2P.rb file only occurred when i tried to install the new vray on sketchup 6....when i do it on SU7 there's no dialog or anything...only the missing plugin

Re: Problems with the installation of New Vray - missing toolbars

                well that's a surprise... hmm...

                Try this file: vfs.rb(debugging)(file removed)

First close all running instances of SketchUp. Then rename your original vfs.rb file (in your sketchup plugins directory) to vfs.backup, and then place the new file I just linked to in your plugins folder. It should pop up a message, telling you where it thinks the file should be, and what OS it thinks you're running. Maybe it thinks you're on Vista or something. Please tell me what the messagebox says when it pops up.
                Best regards,

                  Message box:

We assume that you're running XP, your R2P.rb file is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ASGVIS

                  it's correct....

Re: Problems with the installation of New Vray - missing toolbars

hmm, okay that's odd... And what version of SU are you doing this with? 6 or 7? I'd prefer to only do troubleshooting with one version or another, and not flip flop back and forth. Also, are you sure that you uninstalled any old versions of our product, prior to installing this latest version? I'm not just talking about uninstalling whatever version you had installed on su6 or su7, I'm saying everything ASGvis related: V-Ray for Rhino, old V-Ray for SketchUp 6, and old V-Ray for SketchUp 7. I want to ensure that we are definitely working with a clean slate. Also, do you have any other SketchUp plugins installed?
                    Best regards,

Re: Problems with the installation of New Vray - missing toolbars

Now i was only testing it with SU 7...
I did erase everyting related to asgvis before the installation...i even have unistalled sketchup once, tried to install on another computer here at the office, and nothing....
I don't have any other plugins running right now, just the original example ones that came with sketchup 7

i guess im a hopeless case...but thanks a lot for your attention

Nah, we haven't given up yet This might be an issue we'll have to see for ourselves though. Could you please send us a bug report about this? Just send an email to vfswip@asgvis.com (note to anyone that reads this: please don't just send stuff here unless we know about it, otherwise we might not look at it for a while... like a month... or five).
                        Best regards,

yeah, we're going to have to see this for ourselves to figure this one out. Otherwise we're going to be going back and forth like this for days. I tried to set up a remote session with you a little bit ago, but I guess you didn't see the email yet. Unfortunately I'm not going to be back in the office until Monday, so we'll have to wait till then to do a remote session. In the meantime, keep an eye on the forum, in case anyone figures this thing out.

I have the same problem - no trace of VRay in my Plugins menu.
Was it solved already or not? Thanks.
