Transparent material needed to cast shadow

I know this is a weird request. I need to make a material that is transparent but casts a shadow. I'm trying to show lighting inside a room from above using a transparent ceiling. Is this at all possible? I'm using version Vray SU 01.05.30

You could create a two-sided material, applying a transparent material to the one side and an opaque material to the other.

Does that work for you?
