  • Several problems: lights, pictures and blured walls

    Hello everyone.

Its my first post here, but I'm regular costumer here at reading.

This is one of the several scenes I'm currently rendering with the latest vray plugin for sketchup.

But as you can see I'm having several problems, the first of all is that smoky effect in the walls, witch I can't get rid off...

Second is about the lights, I set the light as I used to in the previous version but only the spotlight works, but very soft, no matter what value I set to the light.

Third.. I can't add reflection to materials without turning them into mirrors.

I have other several problems, but this ones are the ones I need to work around in a hurry.

Sorry for the torrent of questions. :-[

That smoky effect your're seeing noise. Try going to the DMC Sampler tab and either increase the Adaptive Amount to 0.95 or decrease the Noise Threshold to 0.005. Either option will increase rendering time, though.

Second is about the lights, I set the light as I used to in the previous version but only the spotlight works, but very soft, no matter what value I set to the light.
How did you create the lights? Did you create an emissive material or use rectancular or omni lights?
Also, if you're using the physical camera, you really have to beef up the intensity of emissive material, something like 500 is a good start. Also, make sure the emissive material is on the correct side of the bulb. View your model in monochrome mode to make sure the front side of the material is facing the camera.

Third.. I can't add reflection to materials without turning them into mirrors.
I haven't used the newest version too much, but I've heard that you have to manually add the fresnel map to the reflection layer. It doesn't come automatically like it did in previous versions. In the Reflection layer, click the little "m" by Reflection and then apply the TexFresnel map. (I believe there's also a bug with the reflection layer where the Parallel slot in the TexFresnel map needs to be white instead of black)
    I am currently using V-Ray 1.49.01.

Thank you very much for the answers... I'm going to try them right now.

      I'll leave feedback asap.

P.S. - The lights where added in the icon for "spot light" (and other types of light) and then I set the value with the "edit light" for 200... but I'm going to try the 500 value you've suggested.
