  • strange render appearance: white dots and washed-out colors

    Hey y'all,
I'm trying to do my first render with Vray for Sketchup, and I'm running into a problem that I can't find addressed on this board. My image is washed out, but it also has strange white dots. Has anyone else run across this problem, or know how to fix it?

    This is the sketchup model:

    And this is the render:

    Thanks!

:-\ That to me looks like Irradiance Map is used as the secondary engine and 'do not render Final Image' is checked in the Global Switches. . .

      ???

Also, are the materials you have applied Vray materials?

are you using an HDRI to light the image? Also physical camera?

Nope, I have Irradiance Map as primary engine and Deterministic Monte Carlo as secondary, and I haven't checked "do not render Final Image".

I am using physical camera, and I don't what HDRI means! I read the tutorial at http://www.vray.com/vray_for_sketchup/manual/ and that's all that I know.

          My settings are:

Just disable show samples under IR settings and those spots will be gone.

              Didn't work :-[

But this is helping to narrow down the problem: the blue panels are being rendered as default (all of the other colors are correct, and the background is blue), and i can't get rid of the white dots.

              Thanks anyways!

Those dots represent the IR samples being taking. ??? It's weird that un-checking the show samples didn't solve it. What I would do is restore/load the default settings and twitch them from there.

In my opinion, you should select the "Light Cache" in the box Secondary Engine (Indirect Illumination)

and you also should probably up the IR map subdivsions and samples, my rule of thumb is always do the samples 1/2 of the subdivisions, so like 80/40 would be a good setting.
