  • Ideal light diffusing translucency

I am trying to create an ideal light scattering screen that receives another light source (GI) and casts no hard shadows. I followed the advice of the tutorial below and created a double-sided v-ray material with a light gray translucency between an opaque front layer and no back layer. It helps in significantly softening the shadows, but I am still getting hard lines.

Any suggestions for how to make the screen more scattered/diffuse?

    thanks

are shadows created by an omni light? if so, increasing its radius help softening shadows.

No, the light source is the sun. But thanks for the suggestion.

When using the Sun, increase it's size of soften the shadows.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

I finally found a way to do it. Create a double sided vray material, with "force-one-sided" on, put the translucency on light gray, and stack that layer twice so that the light must diffuse through two layers. This removes all the hard shadows.
