  • alpha transparency query

is it possible to get rid of the the 'unwanted' part of bitmap in the viewport iteslf before rendering (in case we are using the typical bitmap along with a corresponding alpha map- and not an alpha transparency- which 1.48.66 currently supports?)
actually the bitmap i am using has a green 'unwanted' part- which refuses to show as transparent in the viewport when applied to an object (shows perfectly transparent after rendering though)..this is obstructing the view and hampering the scene composition..

    help please?

    Re: alpha transparency query

This is not an VfSU issue though. It's a Sketchup thing. Sketchup is not aware of your alpha layer you added in the V-Ray material.

If you want it to see the transparency in SU you need to open the texture in an image editor and apply the alpha channel and save it back to a format that supports transparency, like PNG.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

        Re: alpha transparency query

a small tip btw.. (for those reverting to 1.05.30 until all bugs are splattered- as 1.05.30 does not support transparent PNGs alone)
using a PNG as a bitmap (with unwanted part already removed), AND using the corresponding alpha image as transparent map- helps resolve the issue mentioned in the above posts...(will work for 1.48.66 too, if not using transparent PNGs alone)
