  • Question about the arroway materials?

How do you use the materials of arroway? when i implement them in my sketchup drawings my drawing becomes like 150 mb. This is because of the jpeg of 9 mb of the materials.

Do you guys decrease the resolution or something? because now i get the memory error when i try to render.

I hope you can help me. Thanx

Yes, you must decrease resolution or quality, by using compress format *.jpg .... (for example 50 MB png ----- about 4 MB jpg). Arroway are extreme resolution textures. Full quality is for close up shot mostly

Re: Question about the arroway materials?

Yes - SketchUp embeds the textures in the SU file. Not good when you use high res for rendering.

The Arroway textures are very large - usually one does not need to use their original resolution. I make smaller version when I need them to meet the need of the model.

Also, I create 512px max textures which I use in SketchUp. I then add a white TexAColor map to the transparency channel of the diffuse layer. (Important to use a TexAColor map as they way the model won't turn transparent in SketchUp viewport.)
Then I add a second diffuse underneath the default one - this one I link to the high-res texture.

Can be a bit awkward, but the steps aren't that much extra work. The benefit is that you have a much more manageable SketchUp model.
And with version 1.48.xx you can reuse materials between models.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

hmmm ... full arroway textures doesnt limit me in SU model, it make only big file and problems with render because to much for RAM

Well - that's some serious limitation IMO. At least the memory problems.
And I find also loading times for models with large textures to be much higher.

yeah, don't store high resolution textures in an su file... I absolutely hate that embedding textures in the scene is even an option.

              Option? No option at all.
