  • Interior Render - Setting Questions

    Hey all,

Just finished an interior, evening render for a client and just had a few questions for settings on some materials.

    1. Why is the glass on the left enlarging objects in the reflection? I have the Refraction IOR @ 1.517 (glass) if that matters
    2. Why is the reflection of the lights on the concrete floor all splotchy? Do I just need to bump up the reflection subD's? (I think I have it
at 25 atm) This also goes for the wood cabinet material in the kitchen and the leather on the couches.
    3. For the translucent material (pedals on the artichoke lamp) why isn't it transmitting light evenly? It appears like the light is only being
transmitted where the light directly hits.

    TIA

the glass looks fine to me. if you have a problem with the refraction, just remove that layer only leaving the reflection layer. the light on the floor is most likely a subD issue of the actual spotlight? i'm not a pro, but that would be my first guess. just blur it in photoshop for a quick fix. you might want to try an emissive material for the light at a very low setting.

I guess the glass really isn't an issue. It's probably right, I just feel like the reflection of the kitchen objects should be smaller, but whatever. As far as the light on the concrete, your saying that I should just try upping the subD's for the omni light in the ceiling? I'll have to check that out, because I guess that actually does make some sense.

Can you send me the scene with all the textures that you used, even the HDRI if you used one. We have a lot of question about this, but we don't have any scene to reproduce these issue. Please send me the scene to look at it.
