We don't have quasi montecarlo, we have Deterministic montecarlo.

                Re: This is so Awful!

if you move the camera, does the black square stay in the same spot? or does it move? If it moves around like a piece of geometry in the scene, then that may be exactly what it is. If it is always in the same part of the render, no matter where you move the camera, then it's something else entirely.

Also, could you give us your system info? Especially the version of VfS that you're using? There are HUGE differences between 1.05.30 and 1.48.66 or later, and rather large differences between each of the updates to 1.48.66

Does squares are not visible to the camera, it appear in the last threads of the buckets.

                      Re: This is so Awful!

This has happened to me before now. It seems like one bucket failed to render. I re-rendered and the problem didn't re-occur, so I could only put it down to a glitch in the computer itself.
As for the render times - wow! That might be down to lots of reflective surfaces i.e. glass reflecting in glass ad infinitum. But that would kill me!
As per the manual (!), I use IM -4,-2 (for drafts) and -3,0 for final, also increasing the HSph from 80 to 100 and samples from 30 to 60 for final renders.

                      Good Luck

                          Hello DaveReyes-

I had this happen to me at SIGGRAPH while presenting. It seemed to be the hardware and not the software. I solved the problem by doing a region render over the non-rendered or black area. Hopefully this helps.

                          Best regards,

                          Corey

ok, I'm guessing a bit now!
Maybe you are running out of memory (with so much going on in your scene - glass etc.) and maybe other applications running.
I would try closing everything down, re-boot your machine, load only SU and try re-rendering.
