Dual Opteron 2.4 Gig Server - Network Render

Hi, I am looking to add 4 AMD Dual Opteron 2.4 Gig Server Machines with 2 Gig of memory each together as a network render with my Imac (running xp) as the master.

Do people think its better to spend around £400 on these or more money on 1 machine with dual quad core processors?

What their budget was and what machines they used.
