  • vray for sketchup7 Pro

Hello everyone. I am using the latest update of Vray 1.48.89 for sketchup7pro, after the reported bug was fixed but it seems having the same problem of the rendering buffer window is not showing up and not rendering at all. Was it because of the purging of the unused materials? It was really frustrating after spending hours of the hard work and effort of the model. Any answer? Anyone out there? Please help.

The render window won't open if there's an error of some sort, but you should see a dialog pop up and tell you that there was an error while trying to render your scene. Did you see that error? Also, sometimes people think that there's an error when trying to render, because the VFB doesn't open immediately. If you see a message at the bottom of the sketchup window telling you that we are processing the scene, please wait, it's being serious. You have to wait. Aside from that, I don't know what else to tell you without being able to see the contents of the error log, or a scene file that is demonstrating this issue.

http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=7503.0 <- This post tells you where to get the error log.

Are you able to render a plain box or plane by the way? If you can't render a box, you won't be able to render a whole big complicated scene.

Yes I always see the processing the scene and waited for few minutes, and didn't see any pop-up error during the waiting time. And yes I was able to render a plain box.
I noticed that, when i purge the file, the rendering didn't work anymore. I'm not sure about that, but it happened twice.

      Thank you.

Could you post the contents of your error log? Your description is extremely vague. Maybe post a link for us to download the scene so we can see what you're talking about? Just saying that the VFB doesn't open, and that it worked until you purged the scene (by the way you can purge unused materials via the SketchUp material editor, and the V-Ray material editor. You can also purge unused components via SketchUp's component window), doesn't really tell us much about what's going on. The error log should tell us what errors are going on. You have to make the problem happen, and then close SketchUp before you try to look at the error log though. It gets written out when SketchUp is closed, and erased when you open a new instance of SketchUp.

                Re: vray for sketchup7 Pro

Looks pretty empty. You made sure to make the error occur, then close SketchUp, and then open the error log? If you don't do it in that order, the error log will be empty like this.

I'm going to assume you did the steps correctly, and that there is something else going on. We have had some errors reported about 1.48.89, and we believe we may have fixed some of these issues in our latest beta release. If you are interested in testing the latest beta version to see if it resolves your problem, feel free to sign up for The Mighty Bug Hunt! . Keep in mind that it is a beta version though, so we don't really recommend using it for production or commercial uses. If the error is still happening with 1.48.92 (latest beta version), then we would definitely like to take a look at that scene file that is causing you so much trouble.

If you don't want to try the beta, that's perfectly fine. It will be difficult to say exactly what is causing the trouble without seeing the scene file though, if the error log doesn't have anything that helps us determine the cause of the issue. If you are able to share the scene on the forum, (meaning that you don't have to worry about copy written material and the scene file staying private) I recommend uploading the scene to a place like mediafire.com and posting a link to the download.

Otherwise, send an email to our support department (support@asgvis.com), and put this in the email: "Devin told me to send a scene file that demonstrated the error I am having. More details can be found here: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=8747.0" Make sure to attach the scene file to the email. The scene file will be kept private and not shared with anyone.
                Best regards,
