    Is there a way to make 1 rectangle/point light and use that as the master light, like in 3ds max where you can have multiple instances of a light?

    I have a lot of lights in my scene and it's really time consuming to edit every light seperately.

    yup. Just make the light, and then select the light, and another object (because you can't have a component that has nothing in it but a group), and make a component. Now make instances of that component, and place them wherever you want. To edit the light, just double click the component, and then edit the light. The changes should be reflected in all instances of that component.
