  • very annoying problem with texture mapping :(

I applied a texture to a model, made one face projected, selected the projected texture and applied to the rest of the model, and it looks fine except on perpendicular faces to the first face i changed to projected, in these faces it looks very oddly stretched.

    What am i doing wrong???

Re: very annoying problem with texture mapping

This is because it is taking the mapping projection from the face in which you INITIALLY edited the texture.

Right click on the stretched face and do a separate projection/texture mapping to that face.

    this should work!

If i make the vertical faces a unique texture, then it wouldn't match with the rest of the model though, you'd get a visible difference in the render.

Is there no way to use 1 projected texture over a model which has curves and thickness like in the picture? the curves all look fine, but the thickness doesn't

Re: very annoying problem with texture mapping

        dont make a unique texture.
just uncheck the warped faces "projection"

Then "position" it to match..and then make that "projected"

i am sorry i do not have it open in front of me...I know what you are talking about and there is a way...its hard for me to explain without it in front of me!

        Try that...

I tried that but when i make it projected again, it goes back to a very stretched image, i'll keep playing around, at least to know that there is a way is good!! thanks for the help, could you please try and explain a bit more what you mean by "postion to match and then make it projected" when you get a chance. Thanks for your help
