  • Window Reflections

I want to reflect a photo in the windows of my model and I haven’t been able to make it happen yet. Can someone direct me to a post that explains that? Teo’s storefronts on his shopping plaza post yesterday was really sweet but I know he uses an earlier version. I’m running ver1.48.89.

Do I place the bitmap in the reflection layer and if so does it go in the filter slot. The old version had the multiplier right below the bitmap type and following dcauldwell’s post from 2007 I was making progress with my older version install. Now that I’ve updated I don’t understand where that multiplier is.

The multiplier is in the new version moved outside the Map type window. That way you can quickly adjust it without having to open the map editor every time.

Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

And is this area of the diffuse layer of my glass material where I should load the bitmap image with the UVW Type rollout set to UVWGenEnvironment?

Still seeking advice on where to place my bitmap image so that all of the glass reflects the image as though it were the environment. I could place the image as a billboard which would be reflected and maybe there are advantages to that but I'd really like to understand the other method.

On the material editor, in the Map area you will find one option to override the BC color. Place the HDR or the image there.

Thanks Fernando - I'm putting your info to work and adjusting my settings now. I'll get this thing figured out yet!

              Re: Window Reflections

You can also put the map into the Environment section - let you define a map for all reflective material in the scene.

                Re: Window Reflections

I've tried that too and I'm apparently doing something wrong there. Where does the bitmap go in the Environment section? I do want to the ability to have all reflective surfaces show the bitmap as their reflection.

In addition to this issue I haven't completely figured out the UVW settings that would control the image horizontally and vertically. Controlling the horizon line of the bitmap so that the reflection matches the horizon line of the models view still eludes me.
