  • IES light

I've tried a couple of IES lights to see if I can get them to work. I've made a very simple box, placed my camera at one end and the vray ies light on the other. I've tried two separate ies files from different manufacturers and for some reason I cant get any light to show up when rendered. I've tried normal spotlight which works fine. I've upped the intensity to 500,000 with and without the physical camera and I cant see anything with that light. Any other thoughts as to what it could be?

Edit: Turns out that even with the intensity at 500,000 it wasnt enough, turned it up to ~10,000,000 and was starting to see it. I understand that this is in lumens, but is it just the makeup of the IES file? I would think that having 10,000,000 lumens in any light fixture would burn a hole through the earth.

    Re: IES light

I'm having the exact same problem. Simply doesn't make sense... Especially how when 2 days ago I was rendering correctly with the values set to 10,000, and now i need to put it at 10,000,000 just to see ANYTHING!!

      Re: IES light

Are you using the V-Ray Physical Camera or the normal camera?

Usually with the Physical Camera, you have to increase the intensity to a high value.
      I am currently using V-Ray 1.49.01.
