  • Distributed Rendering Across Platforms

    Evening all,

As I near my first purchase of V-Ray, I've been debating which OS to purchase for. Part of that question is reliant on if Distributed Rendering works across platforms. My main computer will be a Macbook Pro, while my rendering nodes will be Vista machines. I could use Windows on my Mac, but most of my graphic design programs are on the Mac side.

Any chance the DR software will pick up on jobs across platforms?

    Thanks.

I dont think you can do cross platforms.

as long as the dr sprawner is the same version on host and slave then there should be no problems. many users have macs for the pretty work and pcs for the graft,

        kind regards

Appreciate the reply. That'll help my final decision a lot.

Note: DR is currently having some trouble, and will be fixed in an update. It will be able to fully support rendering from a PC to Mac or vice versa. 1.48.89 can get DR to work sometimes, but there is a known bug that we have been working on fixing that prevents DR from working properly (or at all in some cases) on all systems.
