  • VRay and Soften / Smooth

When you use Soften/Smooth in SketchUp does it actual change the way vray will render an object. I may have answered my own question, but I did a test using a contour, first with no smoothing and then with high smoothing settings and it does appear that vray renders it smoother. Is this an easy way to make 'meshes'?

Also, I never understood what the Vray sphere was for? What makes it better then a SketchUp sphere?

Re: VRay and Soften / Smooth

the soften/smooth tool in SketchUp softens the normals of a mesh, not the geometry itself. So yes, that information gets passed along to V-Ray and helps get rid of some of those nasty unwanted edges on a curved surface.

Is the V-Ray sphere better than a SketchUp sphere? ... Is there a SketchUp sphere? There wasn't one when we made the plugin. All we do to make the sphere, is a simple follow me command. Nothing special.

Ahhh. I see. Thanks for the clarification on the sphere. I always just used a sphere component that came along with a bunch of other shapes along with version 5 or something like that.
