Sketchup vs. Rhino vs. 3Dmax vs. Maxell Render vs. Cinema
Re: Sketchup vs. Rhino vs. 3Dmax vs. Maxell Render vs. Cinema
I've found Sketchup is by far the easiest modeling software. It does run into limitations, such as with very geometry heavy models, organic shapes (no nurbs), landscapes, and creating animations. For architecture, I find it is about perfect. There are lots of great tricks to get around the limitations (but workarounds they are)
As for rendering, vray is very powerful and flexible. The lighting support they've added recently has been great. I think it's the best, but I'm biased since I've been using it for a while, and I'm on this forum.
I haven't tried maxwell recently (probably about 3 years ago, so I won't comment) but I think vray's realism is really top-notch. I have made renders that people ask if they are photos.

thank you very much, i already use sketchup and vray, im learning by tutorial rendering stuff....
i was thinking about moving to rhino because it was more profecional.
Re: Sketchup vs. Rhino vs. 3Dmax vs. Maxell Render vs. Cinema
depends on what you mean by more professional... Many professionals use sketchup for architecture, just take a look through the galleries for some of the high quality work people do with Sketchup and Vray. I would suggest finding out what firms in your area are using - that might give you a better idea what skills are required once you are done with your studies.

Re: Sketchup vs. Rhino vs. 3Dmax vs. Maxell Render vs. Cinema
I'm an architect in the uk. Before I got a job after uni I had a conception that 'architects would use 3d max'. But they don't. Everyone uses SU to model, even the big boys like Rogers and Foster. Because SU is soooo cheap to buy, and everyone can use it.... How many architects on here have directors with no clue about computers....? Imagine trying to show them how to alter something in max..... Phhhwwww.... Never! So being able to take SU models and make them look beatiful in vRay is very useful. But don't get me wrong... When foster and co need their presentation work they ship their drawings and SU model off to rendering companies.
If you have the time... Get good at SU and also max then you can use the program to suit the job in hand!

i will go for vraysu if you are looking for speed and quality. of course the only draw back is in the beginning of learning it looks complicated. nevertheless, but it will be a joy once you get the hang of it.
