Total Newbie - help

Hi,

Just downloaded Vray for sketchup on a mac and I am having problems already. I am going through the first tutorial (the one with 3 chairs) and when I render the image just looks burnt out and picking up faint shadows - nothing like the tutorial. I have reset to defaults and started again but still no joy.

I'm obviously doing something wrong - any suggestions?

That tutorial is a bit outdated, I believe the overall scene brightness or physical camera settings are a bit different in the latest version of our product. Hopefully someone here will be able to point you in the right direction.

Try enabling "Exposure" une the "Camera" tab.

It looks like you have 1.48 version while tutorial was written for 1.05 . Few things you can do:
play with environment settings, get rid of the maps in both GI and Background and slowly find your way through or maybe go to youtube and lurk for some tutorials over there since most of them are for 1.48.

But I would actually downgrade to 1.05 and start it from there. I know it sounds weird but trust me it's the best way

Thanks for the input so far.

I think it has something to do with the brightness settings - how I lower these to remove the burn out I'm not sure?

I've tinkered with the other settings, environment settings improve it somewhat but it still looks washed out.

If I downgrade to 1.05 will it work with my version 8 of sketchup on the mac - not too sure!

Go to your Environment settings and turn everything off to see if picture will become completely black in your next render. Then we will take it from there. There is no simple "Brightness" control in VRay.

No, it absolutely will not. There was no OSX version prior to 1.48.xx, 1.05.xx was windows only.
