there are pluggins to add grids to surfaces... but there titles illude me, maybe someone else can re call them?

lol, my friend,just use sketchup's sand box tools, they are very useful in creating terrains and shapes with those kind of grids, google has a video on youtube just look up its sand box tools, hope that helped

there's a texGrid texture you can use in our texture editor to get the grid to show up on the model.

also i think the lines are set up in post production, using a exported image of sketchUp.
