  • Gray Materials on Older SketchUp Models

Whenever I open older SketchUp models, some of the materials come out as a flat gray color. I can't figure out a pattern as to why some materials turn out gray and others don't, but it looks like all the ones that do turn gray were default SketchUp materials, such as "Vegetation-Blue Grass," that were then modified using the SketchUp Material Editor.

These gray materials show up whenever I open up SketchUp models that were originally created on a computer that didn't have the VRay plugin, or on a computer that had an older version of VRay.

Since my computer is the only computer in the office with VRay, it's been causing problems with my co-workers whenever I'm asked to modify some of their models.

Does anyone know what to do about this?
    I am currently using V-Ray 1.49.01.

yes - blended materials work differently than the 1.5 version. You have to re-do any material that was blended.

I haven't found any workaround to this issue.

*edit: and by the way, I've asked, including filing a support request. I thought I had another post with more detail about this issue, but can't find anything. Basically what happens is that the color adjustment in vray 1.5 becomes a texblend with the bitmap layer "hidden" in the blended material. The material is still there, but the UV mapping doesn't work because of this issue:

If anyone has a workaround for this that would be great. The only way I have been able to fix it is to edit the material.
