  • Dome Light?

I have been reading the Vray forums for 3DS Max and folks over there say they use a dome light when using an HDRI for lighting. This produces an excellent result with sharp shadows. They say the reason you get splotches when using an unblurred HDRI as your environment, is due to the huge size of the environment. using a dome reduces the scale and is a much better way to use these types of lighting setups.

Is there any workaround for Vr4SU to do this? Is it possible to make a half dome and place an HDRI image on the inside face as an emmitter? If not, will we be seeing more of these 3DStudio Vray features in oiur plug-in soon?

    Re: Dome Light?

There are no work around that mimic dome light, but you could use the sun and HDRI to achieve a very nice illumination. Dome light is a very powerful V-Ray light and I hope we can include it on the future.
