Where is the control to speed up render. I would like to just preview my project and not do a final render each time because it taks too long.

Re: Render speed
Hi Meca,
You could try to decrease some of the values you can find in the VRay options. Under the Irradiance Map tab > Basic parameters, the default values used are -3 and -1 for the min rate and max rate respectively. These values are used to determine how many samples vray will render for you, so the bigger the value the more samples it will generate. Try to lower it for example, -5 and -3, creating less samples therefore reducing render times. Of course -5 and -3 aren't the final values you SHOULD use, experiment to your own. Remember the lower the values the lower quality you will get.
Another way to preview your renders would be to use the 'region render' tool that you can find in your Vray Frame Buffer (the window where you can see your rendering happening). Just select the teapot icon, and make a box inside the window where you want to only see changes. The region render tool isolates your selected region. I hope I was able to explain it briefly and clear for you to understand, but in case I didn't there are info about it in the vray manual, and on the internet too.
If you would like to preview your lighting, you can use the override material feature found under Vray options > Global switches tab. You should be able to see the options override materials with the checkbox, and the override materials options with a color picker box. For convenience pick the color white, and have a check in the checkbox. What this does is it will make all the material in your scene white, replacing all the materials you have applied yourself ONLY when the override materials options is checked.
Using a low resolution output will greatly reduce rendertimes, helpful for previews. Under the output tab try to use 600x480 for previews, if you find that too small adjust to your liking.
Hope I helped in a few ways.
