    Hello everybody,

I'm new to this forum and V-ray. I have been experimenting with the SU plugin for about a day now and managed to get some nice renderings. However, every time I render with a rectangle light I get a lot of black dots in the rendering, like it isn't finished. I searched for a solution to this problem but haven't found any setting that fixes this problem. If i only use natural light (without the ceiling) the rendering works just fine. Suggestions are very much appreciated!

It looks like VRay is just going through the "Building Light Cache" stage. For how long did you wait?

      Re: dark dots

I have tried this several times and waited for up to 30 minutes. At first it seems there are still pixels generated but it just "freezes" after a while.

I have to ask again. Are you using transparency on the diffuse layer or on the refraction layer?

I'm not sure, do you mean the Reflection/Refraction checkbox in the Global Switches options? Is so, this is checked so I guess I'm using refraction.

            Re: dark dots

I mean, if you have any material with some grade of transparency. In the diffuse layer we have an option called "transparency", in the refraction layer we also have the same option. The default color for that option is black.
if you want to make the layer 100% transparency you should use 100% white on the transparency. But if you want to make the diffuse layer partially transparent you could use gray color.
I had see the issue that you have, when you use semi-transparent material, the light Cache take forever.
I have this issue all the time and some other user too.

              Re: dark dots

thnx for all your help, because of your reflection question I decided to try to render the graphic with the Reflection/Refraction checkbox unchecked. The result is still far from photorealistic but at least the black dots are all gone. Now I can finish applying al the correct materials... Thank for all your input!
