Floating objects after applying material during render
Floating objects after applying material during render
hi guys, iv placed a grass material on a sandbox, all looks good until i render. it seems to push the sandbox down/or the rest of the objects up level with the length of the grass...any ideas why this is happening?
Re: Floating objects after applying material during render
im not too sure exactly what your trying to do...
but i will work on this premise. You want displacement on your grass and a concrete paver amoungst the blades coming through.
Firstly its just my opinion but displacement on grass this close up dosent really work, id use PS and feather some blade of grass with a brush, but anyway on with your problem.
It looks as though your paver is the thinkness of paper, so id extrude it through the terrain by a 1m, but only have 50mm showing above the surface. Now render, and if the grass appears above the slab too much... lower the terrain or raise the slab until you have the desired effect.
Re: Floating objects after applying material during render
the grass is meant to sit level with the edge of the building and the concrete block is meant to sit on the grass...i think iv sorted it after hours of playing with the sittings, i turned off Allow 2 Sided in the displacement option and that seems to help a lot.
Re: Floating objects after applying material during render
scrap my last comment, just tried it again on a new project and the same floating problem happens...surely im not the only one having this problem. ???
Re: Floating objects after applying material during render
We have an option called "Shift" on the Material's displacement option. This option allow you to move up and down the displacement geometry. If you use negative number you will shift down the displacement and if you use positive numbers you will shift up the displacement.
In your case, you have to use negative number to move the displacement down. It is very important to disable the "Use Global" option in oder to be able to use the options per materials.
