  • mirror reflections

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to render a scene witch contains some furniture... I'm also using mirror on some walls and some lights.
lights are made as an emissive surface/ material, looks ok for me, but the reflection in the mirror is very bad, not realistic at all...
I tried different setups for the mirror, glass with no reflection fresnel, I tried it with a shiny chrome material, but results are basically the same...

I have two pics on flickr, I hope someone has experience out there!

    Re: mirror reflections

emissive materials will look that way with regular irmap settings. Did you try a rendering looking directly at the lighted sign? You should see the same quality - what I mean is that I don't think it's the mirror material that is a problem. You could increase your hsph subdivisions to something like 120 or 150 in your irradiance map rollout.

*edit: aha, see fernando below - yeah, it looks like the LC spottiness. my mistake.

      Re: mirror reflections

      Hi
The problem with the reflection is that you are seeing the LC samples. The reason is because you have enable one option called "Use for Glossy Rays". To use this option we need another option called "Retrace threshold" to control the precision of the GI when you use "Use for Glossy Rays". We don't have this option (Retrace threshold) available in the actual version, but we are going to have it in the next version.
To resolve this issue you have to disable the "Use for Glossy rays" option on the LC panel.
