  • Textures problems

    HI,

    I have this problem:

I am working with computer A / with a folder with all the textures for the model
I copy everything to the computer B / in sketchup I can see all the textures, but Vray does not render them because is saving the computer-A-path-folder

I am trying to Regenerate ALL + force Sync... but nothing.

    Any help?

I am currently using 1.48.90... has the newer version the same problem?

    Thank you

    S

    Re: Textures problems

Sketch up embeds texture in a temp folder, hence why you see them. But with large files it can crash or just not render! If you are transferring files across to another comp, the texture paths must be identical. For example I use a mac and have a personal MacBook pro. My user name is dean, but my iMac at works user name is deanf. So when I move my textures across to the iMac I have to relink all my textures because vray is looking for textures stored under user/dean/destop...etc etc which does not exist on that computer.

So in short create 2 folders, one on each comp, which share the same file path

    Or

Set up a small network with the textures saved in one place

    Or

What I've started doing... Get a large portable harddrive, put all the textures on there, so when you move between comps simply plug in the hard drive and render instantly. (back up your textures though incase you lose it or the drive becomes corrupt) Another nice touch by using this method is if you use high res maps like arroways, keeping them on the external keeps the comps hard drive nicely freed up

    Hope this helps

      Re: Textures problems

ah ok, so it is a problem connected to my workflow... mhh.

I am wondering if in the new (or future version) of Vray will be possible to relink only the folder where are stored the textures,
without relink all the textures one by one.

But Thank you very much for the tips!
