  • Render time is taking forever...why?

I have recently downloaded vray and managed to render the interior a few times quite quickly but now it seems to take 6+ hours and not do very much? When I reduce my zoom to 25% I can see it has started to work but when at 100% 800x600 it never seems to do anything.

I have looked through a lot of posts on here but no one seems to have the same problem as me.

Also my lighting is no longer working.

Please could some one help as I do not have a clue and the technical jargon is difficult to understand.

    Thank you.

did you adjust materials in the vray editor between when you had quick render times to slow render times? I ask because there are issues with some types of materials that can cause slow renders.

An 800x600 should never take that long. It really could be anything from your GI settings, a material with high subdivision settions - If you are using a Ward shader for metal in there somewhere, that always kills my render times. Also, I have had issues in the past with PNG images using transparency making my renders take 20x the render time they should. Can you give us some more info on your settings, are you using displacement? how complex is the model?

Is there any way to reduce the render time when using ward shaders??. My renders took me about 1-2 hours and i use ward reflections. Since i cant get any good reduced time modifying the system options (well, maybe cuz i really dont know wat the options do on the system tab, even i read the vray manual), i wonder if the ward shader is causing the render time to increase.

Anyways, it doesnt matter if the resolution is 800x600 or watever, the resolution does not determine the render time, u can have a 2816x2112 resolution image that takes less time than a 800x600 image. I think the problem are some materials that vray doesnt handle. They make the render time to increase in a epic way.
