  • perforated copper panel...can it be done?

Hi guys...I'm trying to achieve the effect of the panel on the left (which was "physically" punched) but on the one on the right.
The punched hole route yields waaay too much geometry. I tried (unsuccesfully) to do a displacement on the copper or bump. But to be honest, I don't know 100% what I'm doing. I don't want to guess anymore. I'm sure there's a way to do it on the material itself. I just don't know how. I would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks guys.

P.S. - I'm trying to add this technique to the copper_brushed.vismat from the download area. (I couldn't attach the vismat here)

    Hi
In V-Ray for Sketchup white color mean 100% transparency and black color mean 100% matte. You should use a texture mapping in the transparency slot of the diffuse layer. In your case, the areas that represent the holes should be white color and the other areas should be black color. Also you have to use the same texture on the reflection layer to avoid reflection on the holes. You will need and extra diffuse layer to control the UV mapping of the transparency texture.

Thanks Pedro. I almost got it to work perfectly. The thing is, I don't know how to get rid of the reflections on the holes. I did read your suggestion but I need the "brushed" jpg in the reflection slot. How can i add both the image you attached AND the brushed jpg (for the brushed effect) in the same reflection slot? I'm so close I can taste it.
Thanks for all your help by the way.
