White outline on 2D image billboards

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and V-ray for SketchUp and this may already be answered.

I am trying to render an images that has multiple 2D image plants and trees, but I keep getting a white outline around each component. How can I fix this?

use a blue background for your environment variable. What you are seeing is a "feathering" of the white background of the render showing through.

The problem here are the billboard images. If you go to http://cgtextures.com/ you will find a very good tutorial to fix the images and the alpha channel to avoid this issue. You have to go to the tutorial section.

Thanks andybot_cg I tried your suggestion but it did not work for me. Even when I render a view looking down on the 2d plants with no sky in the background the outline is still white.

@fpedrogo The components I have do not come with any other alpha maps, just a transparent png file and a sketchup component especially cut out for the png. Surely Vray can do this without the need for two textures?

Yes, We support transparency png and tiff, but again the images should not have the white border. Here is an example of the billboard with a good image.

Perfect, I understand now. Thank you for your efforts. All I did was paint the background black in photoshop and save the image and it fixed it.
