  • So now what?

Now that SketchUp has been sold to Trimble... which quite frankly is just scary, will development continue for V-Ray for SketchUp? For those still in the dark - http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/201...-sketchup.html

We have no plans on halting development as far as I am aware.

Whoa this is huge. I would hope that the next thing they'll consider is:
      1. 64-bit version of sketchup
      2. multi-viewport view (made optional)
      3. more stable (less bug splats) version

What I think would be scary is if they start to monetize things, like new updates that is based on new features (plugins).
      Acer Predator G5910 FTW!

      Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4GHz
      16GB RAM Windows 7 64-bit OS
      SketchUp 8.1 & V-Ray for SketchUp 1.49.01

?? It's a business - of course they will monetize...

Doubt this will happen - I've never run out of memory with just plain SketchUp. Only times has been with render engines like VfSU that runs the render process within SketchUp. And I don't see SketchUp developers going through the hurdles of 64bit to cater to other people. What would be better for VfSU was if they moved the render process to it's own 64bit process instead of being within SketchUp's.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

By monetize, I mean if they start to release new version of sketchup but some new stuff will come out as ruby plugins that need to be purchased to fully experience the sketchup that is new version. They have spend awful lotta money to buy SU from Google, and I think they have considered many opportunities to earn their investment back.

Kind of saying that making the Sketchup "Pro" much more worth the free version than it is now, so people will consider more for it.

          Just my opinion.
