Why can't I see my recently sent PMs in the Sent Items folder?

By default, sent messages are not save. There is a checkbox at the bottom of the PM compose page to "save message in Sent folder" that is not checked. I would like it if this was enabled by default, and then we can uncheck it if needed. Not sure why it's off by default...

Thanks for the tip Andy, that's been driving me mad! That checkbox doesn't even show up in the "Quick Reply" dialog.
