  • Can V-Ray render object without shadows?

    Hi there,

Does anyone know if V-Ray can render an object without cast shadows? I am referring mainly to the Cast Shadows in the Entity Info window. I have a few objects to render, and I need some of them not having cast shadows. I uncheck the box of the Cast Shadows in the Entity Info, but V-Ray still renders the shadows.

If there is a way to do it, please let me know.

    Thanks!!!

It's per material. You use a material on that object and uncheck the "cast shadows" option in the vray materials editor. Then any face/ object with that material won't cast shadows. Very useful for light fixtures

      Thanks, Andy. Very useful.

However, it works well only if the object has one material or no other objects have the same material. Indeed it is more complicated and time consuming when the object has many materials shared with other objects and you have to duplicate the materials and have to uncheck each of the cast shadows.

      Have a good weekend!

You can uncheck shadows in our global options too, but it will be for the whole scene, not just one object/material.
