  • V-Ray 2.0 for SketchUp Service Pack 1 Available

V-Ray 2.0 for SketchUp Service Pack 1 is now available. We’ve added some new features, streamlined some current ones and now V-Ray supports SketchUp 2014. We’ve also fixed a number of things, so we recommend that you update your copy of V-Ray 2.0 for SketchUp.

Login to www.chaosgroup.com to download the update.

    New Features:
    • Added support for SketchUp 2014.
    • V-Ray for SketchUp now provides the Batch Render Tool which allows the user to render all scene tabs in a SketchUp file with the click of a button. Here is a new tutorial on the Batch Render Tool.
    • SketchUp files are saved alongside the .VRMesh proxy output so that component creation can be streamlined.
    • When clicking the RT button during an RT render it now automatically refreshes the scene.

    Feature Improvements:
    • Much faster light editing.
    • Faster Proxy export and creation.
    • Optimized memory performance for faster render times.
    • When rendering, the render toolbar icons are now disabled until the render is finished.

    And more…

For more information, visit the V-Ray 2.0 for SketchUp product page.

As mentioned in another thread, the update doesn't show for me... Are my privileges changed when you reset all the users after the hack?

Is it available for edu license users? I can only seem to find the total install files... Or is that what I'm meant to be using? Release date of start of March and version number 2.00.24261?

              I am confused by this.
The first set of options is for Version 2 but the most recent date is March 4
The second set of options is March 19 but it's for Version 1.49
And they're all for 32bit systems.

              Some input would be helpful.

                yay I have acces!

but. I was wondering; if I install the version that works with SU2014, apparently I cannot have a version that works with SU2013 and SU8 installed simultaneously? I don't need to run them simultaneously, I would merely like to have the option to use them on either SU version...

SketchUp is 32bit, so our plugin has to be 32bit. If you look at the full version number, you will notice that the march 4th builds are 2.00.24261, and the september 2013 builds are 2.00.23590. The 2.00.24261 build is the service release. You will also see that the 2.00.24261 builds have a separate 2014 build. This is because SketchUp 2014 had some major changes that required it's own installer, to avoid over bloating our installer to handle all supported versions of SketchUp.

Okay, I feel pretty stupid (a common occurrence in my life) - I was reading the May 19 list as March 19 (the day I saw the announcement of the Service Pack) and assumed that must be the most recent.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

We never have allowed you to have V-Ray installed to more than one version of SketchUp at a time (without manually moving files about). 2014 has some major changes that require us to have some completely different files, as well as a completely different install path, neither of which will work properly with SketchUp 2013 or 8. You can't even manually copy files manually to achieve this anymore, because the binary files for 2014 are not compatible at all with 2013 or 8.
                        Best regards,

Now I get it. I didn't realise it was a new install as such.

Sorted! Your support team is gonna think I'm clinically braindead

Proxies work so much better now! I can rotate my models around without them lagging! Import and export is much better too. Thank you!
