  • Licensing issues - wibu key and Windows 8.1

    Hi,

I'm trying to renew my educaitonal license of vray for skp, but myself and the reseller have hit an issue with getting my existing wibu-key to work.

I have installed the Vray License server on both my older Windoes 7 machine, and my new Windows 8.1 machine. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the Wibu website, for 64 bit. However, when i insert the wibu key, only the windows 7 machine recognises and installs the drivers. I am using the USB 2.0 port on both machines. Without this, I cannot get another license/run the license server.

I know the educational license isn't a big sale, but hoping I can find some resolution regardless.

Has anyone else has issues with Windows 8.1 and their Wibu dongle?

      Hi,

I had several problems to install VfS due to operating system 32/64 bit releases. Have you tried to install 64bit wibu driver? Find your driver for 64bit at http://www.wibu.com/downloads-user-software.html

Like I said in the original post, yes I have.

This has been placed in the "too hard" basket. Have changed to a different renderer for now. Will revisit soon when I have a spare hour!

I'm sorry, it's true. I didn't read correctly your post. I have W8.1 and W7 on two machines like you and I've got no problem with "old" dongles and new license server (using USB 2.0 or 3.0). And I helped to install many times this software to my customers both educational and adv licenses on Mac and PC.

When you had an hour you can try to reinstall from the beggining.

If you have the same behaviour you can check this:
Maybe user rights issue? Do services (license server and wibu) start properly? Do you see wibukey server icon on tray? If so, red or green?
