  • Green light flicker in animation

    Hello
I did a animation with a lot of picture using Vray but then I look through the picture I saw that in some places there was some kind of green light and it wasn't the same on all picture. Then I later put all togherther in a animation the green light flicker in some places, anyone now what the reason could be?

It's over the kitchen, above the staircase and beside the fireplace.
I know that there is a little jump in the middle of the video that I have to fix later then I rerender.

Flickering can occur for a number of different reasons. Try rendering using Brute Force / Light Cash for your primary and secondary engines.

This also works, but it is a few additional steps. Glad to hear you are rendering animations flicker free!

Have Chaos grouo manage to improve renderingtimes a lot last versions or is it maybe some settings I have different? For three years ago I tested Vray for a schoolwork there I had a model on about 40 Mb and now I have a model on 50 Mb. I made a animation at that time to and when I look at the picture now it looks like every picture took 15 to 30 minutes even if i had a resulotion of 800*600. Now when I made this animation I don't have so much reflection but I have some displacement and it takes 1-2 minutes to render each picture. That's is a huge different when you want several hundred picture, could it be a improvement in Vray or is it that reflection is complicated and it could drive up renderingtimes? I use the same computer wish was brand new at that time.

Reflections can certainly increase render times a great deal, and when rendering animations it becomes very noticeable. The V-Ray 2 for SketchUp has not changed any, so I imagine what you are noticing is the decrease in render times because of a decrease in Reflection on your materials. We have, however, sped up the rendering process through both speed of rendering and workflow a great deal in V-Ray 3 for SketchUp, and the beta is now available here: https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/sketchup, you may want to give it a try!

I'm testing it but the quality of the rendering is really bad if you don't redo the rendering by using "Region render" and because of that I can't use it for animation, I won't be able to fix the renders before it go to next and even if it could it would far to long time to render the images so therefore I use 2.0 for animation. I hope you do a lot of improvements in 3.0 before you realise it because right now the quality is to bad.

Could you share the scene with us? V-Ray 3 for SketchUp is a great deal faster than 2.0 but works differently, so some 2.0 scenes render differently and in some cases, more slowly. You may want to reset your settings first and then try rendering. I would be interested in seeing the scene and possibly recommending suggesting on settings or ways to improve your renderings quality and speed.

I have send a mail to but I can send it here to.

have found out that vray isn't rendering as it should and the only way to get high quality sometimes is to use region render after the rendering is finish on spot I want better quality and then I get the quality I want wish is really frustning.

I think made this rendering in medium quality and when I saw that the stone was really bad quality I use "Region render" over just a part and you can clearly see the different. I haven't change any settings between the renders but you can clearly see the differences

I took the "Region render" over the lamps and this was the result, looks mush better without black dots. That make me wonder how mush else I should rerender to get good quality in the picture. I have also seen this in several other renders I have maid even if i haven't saved them, the first render don't have high quality.

The last example is when I use "Track mouse while rendering" on a driveway. I was happy first that I got high quality from the beginning but then I saw that it was just around the mouse I got it and the rest of the driveway was low quality. You should be able to see it, it's in the middle of the picture.
